💙 How deeply do you love yourself?
Most of us love our partners, our children and our closest friends with so much grace and compassion. When it comes to ourselves, however, we often hold back.
I’ve had clients who were the epitome of selfless caring for their families, friends and coworkers with the utmost of care, but when they faced intensive health issues, they didn’t even know where to begin when it came to caring for themselves. I had to not only encourage and coach them into practicing good self-care, but I also had to offer many options of things they could do and help them when they resisted. They’ve told me that they felt guilty and shameful for putting their needs first.
Have you ever been there? It’s all too common. We’re beautiful, accomplished, high-value women who selflessly give to everyone around us, but we neglect the most important relationship of all — the relationship we have with ourselves.
We criticize.
We neglect our needs.
We accept less than we deserve.
That ends today.
✨ Here’s how to start loving yourself like no one else:
- Mirror Work — I encourage you to stand in front of a mirror, look yourself in the eyes and speak life into yourself. Affirm your worth. You don’t have to look outside yourself for validation — You can give it to yourself.
- Nurture Yourself When You’re Sick or Weary — It isn’t healthy or in your best interest to push through exhaustion. It’s most adventitious to give yourself the same comfort you’d give a loved one.
- Enforce Your Value — You are not for everyone, and that’s perfectly fine. Set boundaries, stand tall and do not lower your worth to accommodate others or make them feel better about themselves or above you.
